The center is situated in an active retail area, ten minutes from downtown Peoria, and directly across the street from another regional shopping center, Sheridan Village. Evergreen Square has undergone an expansion program to strengthen the center's position in the trade area and features a very strong anchor tenant mix. Peoria was built on a base of heavy manufacturing and agriculture, however the economy has diversified over the last decade and now features insurance, electronics, telecommunications, medical and aerospace as major employers. Caterpillar Inc. is the Peoria area's dominant employer, along with Keystone Steel & Wire and Dresser Industries. These industries, along with Bradley University provide an excellent customer base for the shopping center.
